El Balcon Hotel, Cusco

October 6, 2016

The Inca Capital is almost always on the Peru tick list, used as a base for many of the remarkable sites in the area, Cusco is a must when visiting Peru. Cusco is a beautiful city; from the moment you step into Cusco you are transported into another World. Famous sites like the sacred valley and used as the gateway to Machu Picchu, Cusco has a lot to offer. Whether you use your hotel as a base to explore or somewhere to relax after you adventures, we found our perfect place.

Location

Located just a short walk from the main square, Plaza De Armas El Balcón has the perfect location for you to explore Cusco but enjoy the quiet location outside of the lively square.

Rooms

El Balcón has 18 rooms, with different views and different occupancies. We stayed in a garden view room and it was beautiful. The room was bigger than most we have stayed in so far, with two double beds, a spacious bathroom (which always had hot water), a heater (which is a lovely addition in Cusco) and complimentary water. The second floor hosts rooms with city views which are amazing. Whether you stay in a city view room or not make sure you grab a coffee, take a seat on the second floor and watch the sunset over an unforgettable city.

Breakfast was included in the room rate and was delicious, much more than you will get in most hotels or hostels in Peru.

 Facilities

The rooms are surrounded by beautiful gardens which have scattered chairs and benches for you to sit back and relax.

The restaurants serve organic meals which are delicious, every night we tried something new; the four cheese pasta is not to be missed. In the same area breakfast is served, not only can you chose from the cereals, fruits, homemade jams and breads on display but you are also served a choice of eggs, omelettes or pancakes. After a full day exploring make sure you treat yourself to one of the hotels homemade brownies, you won’t regret it.

Complimentary hot drinks throughout the day, this is helpful if you suffer with the attitude; the hotel offers complimentary coca tea.

Wi-Fi is available in all areas and it had a brilliant connect the whole time were there.

They also offer free luggage storage which is convenient if your catching a late flight or a night bus.

Our Verdict

We stayed in two hotels whilst we were in Cusco and we wish we had spent the full 5 days at El Balcón. We got some much needed rest in a tranquil, beautiful environment which ended our time in Cusco perfectly.

The staff were always willing to help, giving advice of what to do in the area, making sure we had everything we needed and suggesting what delicious food to try in their restaurant.

With the comfortable rooms and perfect location this will always be our first choice in Cusco.

Getting there

We made our way to Cusco from Arequipa on an overnight bus, the bus station is located about a 15minute drive from the centre so we jumped in a taxi. But the hotel is easily reachable from the main square if you make your way there.
